children’s teacher training

Grow with Yoga!

Black Mountain Yoga is a Registered Children’s Yoga School with Yoga Alliance. Upon completion of the 95 hour Children’s “Grow with Yoga” Teacher Training you can apply for the designation of Registered Children Yoga Teacher (RCYT-95) with Yoga Alliance after meeting their requirements. One of those requirements is to complete a 200-hour yoga teacher training.

This training specializes in working with children of all ages & abilities, including exceptional children.

The training is a comprehensive learning experience, in 5 Month program (one weekend per month) or Summer Intensive program.

It will provide practical & hands-on learning experiences, observation of Kids Yoga classes, and wisdom on how to provide an enriching experience for children of all abilities. All of this will be set in a collaborative learning community.

This training provided me with invaluable skills for working with young children and developed my own awareness of myself as a teacher.

Brandon holds a Master’s degree in Special Education, is a highly qualified educator, and has over 15 years’ experience working with children and children with special needs. Brandon has been studying and practicing yoga since 2000, while earning her B.S. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Brandon made each adult learner feel respected and heard in her kid’s yoga training. She not only encouraged me to challenge myself but also gave direct honest feedback as needed. The classes were a nice combination of verbal and hands on learning activities. I especially valued the feeling of community that Brandon fostered in her training.

As a yoga and movement teacher for youth with special needs, I was immediately able to begin implementing the tools learned in her training. I highly recommend this training to anyone who plans to work with youth, whether as a parent, community member or teacher.
